Arsenal locked horns with Liverpool at Anfield earlier tonight as they hoped to grind out a result in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie. The Gunners were solid in the early stages of the game but suffered a setback in the 24th minute when Granit Xhaka was sent off for taking Diogo Jota out when he was clear through on goal. However, Mikel Arteta’s men fought hard both on and off the ball and went into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.
The visitors showed a lot of heart in the second half and managed to defend well and grind out a scoreless draw at Merseyside.
