In a recent report, Foot Mercato claimed that Arsenal are among several clubs hoping to land Paris Saint-Germain full-back Colin Dagba. It is believed that the Gunners could face competition in the form of Real Betis, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund in pursuit of the French talent next summer.
Dagba’s Limited Playing Time In French Football This Season
Dagba has found game time hard to come by at Parc des Princes during this campaign as he has only made four appearances for PSG this season, picking up one assist in the process on all fronts.
The French right-back played a far more prominent role for his current employers in the previous campaign when he featured in 33 matches for the Parisian outfit, registering one goal and two assists in all competitions. However, Dagba struggled to catch the eye as he is averaged 0.9 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 0.7 clearances and 0.5 key passes per game in Ligue 1 last season. However, the 23-year-old was accurate when distributing the ball after completing 90.8% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Is Dagba A Good Choice For Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta?
Dagba can use his quickness and agility to get back and defend his penalty box when needed. He is a solid tackler of the ball and has got a good work rate down the right flank. The French sensation can even whip in some dangerous crosses into the opponent’s penalty area and is proficient at retaining possession for his team. However, the talented full-back needs to work on improving his productivity in the final third if he wants to become a top player in his position someday.
At 23, Dagba has got a promising future ahead of him which makes him a decent choice for the Gunners to consider for the long run. We can expect him to add some serious competition for Takehiro Tomiyasu for a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium in the coming seasons.
With all things considered, it makes sense for Mikel Arteta to engineer a move to bring Dagba to the English capital at the end of this campaign as the player will definitely enhance the quality of Arsenal‘s match-day squad.
