Paris Saint-Germain welcomed Club Brugge at Parc des Princes earlier this evening as they looked to earn a positive result at home in the UEFA Champions League. The French side made an electric start to the contest and raced to a 2-0 lead within the first seven minutes courtesy of a quick-fire brace from Kylian Mbappe. Lionel Messi added another goal in the 38th minute as PSG went into the half-time break 3-0 up on the scoreline.

Mats Rits got a goal back for the Belgian outfit in the 68th minute with a lovely finish. However, Lionel Messi scored again from the penalty spot just eight minutes later as the contest finished 4-1 in favour of the Parisian giants.

Let’s take a look at how each Paris Saint-Germain player performed during the clash against Club Brugge.

GK: Gianluigi Donnarumma – 7.5/10

The Italian keeper made a few solid saves to restrict the opposition to just one goal during the 90 minutes.

RB: Achraf Hakimi – 6/10

He was tidy with his passing and made one good run down the right flank. Hakimi was hardly tested on the defensive end of the field.

CB: Marquinhos – 7/10

The Brazilian centre-back cleared his lines when required and created one good chance going forward.

CB: Amad Diallo – 7.5/10

Diallo was strong in the air and made some crucial interceptions at the back. He also pulled off plenty of last-gasp clearances but won’t be pleased after conceding a goal in the second half.

LB: Nuno Mendes – 7/10

He performed his defensive duties well but could only last 49 minutes.

CM: Idrissa Gueye – 7/10

Gueye got stuck in with some solid tackles to make life tough for Club Brugge at the centre of the park. He was also quite lively on the ball.

CM: Marco Verratti – 7/10

The French talent earned the ball back a couple of times and had a few bright moments in the opponent’s half.

CM: Georginio Wijnaldum – 6.5/10

He was not afraid to put his foot through the ball when his teammates were exposed at the back. Wijnaldum made one good run with the ball in the opposition half.

RW: Angel Di Maria – 8/10

The Argentine playmaker created a lot of headaches for the Club Brugge defenders and had a few attempts at goal. He picked up an assist during his time on the field.

ST: Lionel Messi – 9.5/10

Messi was simply unstoppable this evening as he wreaked havoc in the final third. He scored a brace and engineered plenty of promising chances for his teammates as well.

LW: Kylian Mbappe – 9.5/10

The French speedster scored two quick-fire goals in the first quarter of the game which gave PSG the ideal platform to secure a dominant win this evening. He has also got an assist to show for his efforts.

Substitutes:

CB: Thilo Kehrer – 6/10

The German centre-half made one important clearance after coming off the bench.

CM: Leandro Paredes – 6/10

He added some bite and steel to Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield.

CM: Ander Herrera – 6/10

Herrera was full of energy at the centre of the park.

ST: Mauro Icardi – N/A

He didn’t get enough minutes to warrant a rating.

CM: Éric Ebimbe – N/A

Ebimbe hardly had any time to influence the game.
