Manchester United entertained Young Boys at Old Trafford earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a positive result in front of their home supporters. The Red Devils made a good start to the game and got their noses ahead in the ninth minute courtesy of Mason Greenwood’s goal. However, Fabian Rieder equalised for the visitors in the 42nd minute which meant that both sides went into the half-time interval with a 1-1 scoreline.

The Mancunian giants lacked the cutting edge in the second half and were unable to break the opposition defence again as the contest ended 1-1 with both teams sharing the points.

Let’s take a look at how each Man United player fared during the match against Young Boys.

GK: Dean Henderson – 6.5/10

He made a few good saves during the game but was quite inaccurate with his passing.

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7/10

The talented right-back performed his defensive duties well and made some driving runs with the ball down the right flank.

CB: Eric Bailly – 7/10

He cleared his lines when needed but will be disappointed for not keeping a clean sheet at home.

CB: Nemanja Matic – 5.5/10

Matic was unleashed as a makeshift centre-half tonight but was too slow to react to the danger.

LB: Luke Shaw – 6.5/10

He had some lively moments in the final third but got replaced at the hour mark.

CDM: Donny van de Beek – 7/10

The Dutch midfield ace protected his backline effectively and completed a couple of energetic dribbles going forward.

RW: Amad Diallo – 6.5/10

He didn’t shy away from having a strike at goal. Diallo got substituted in the 67th minute.

CM: Juan Mata – 7/10

The Spanish player had some bright moments in the Young Boys half but failed to register a goal.

CM: Jesse Lingard – 7/10

He caused a lot of problems for the opposition defenders with his creativity and running.

LW: Anthony Elanga – 6.5/10

Elanga worked hard defensively but failed to influence the game in the final third.

ST: Mason Greenwood – 8/10

Greenwood scored Man United’s only goal of the game in the ninth minute and was a real handful for the opposition defenders.

Substitutes:

CB: Teden Mengi – 6/10

He added some bite and steel to Man United’s defence.

GK: Tom Heaton 6/10

Heaton kept a clean sheet after coming off the bench.

ST: Shola Shoretire – 6/10

The 17-year-old got some valuable minutes under his belt after coming on for the final quarter of the game.

CM: Charlie Savage – N/A

He didn’t get enough minutes to earn a rating.

CM: Zidane Iqbal – N/A

Iqbal hardly had any time to influence the game.
