Real Madrid entertained Cadiz at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium earlier tonight as they hoped to pick up a positive result in front of their home supporters. Los Blancos were dominant in the first half but struggled to finish off their chances as they went into the half-time interval with a goalless scoreline.
It was a similar story in the second half as Carlo Ancelotti’s men continued to create chances but often came up short in the final third. The match ended with Real Madrid being held to a frustrating 0-0 draw at the Spanish capital.
Let’s take a look at how each Real Madrid player performed during the match against Cadiz.
GK: Thibaut Courtois – 6.5/10
The Belgian keeper didn’t have a save to make in the game and secured an easy clean sheet at home.
RB: Lucas Vazquez – 7.5/10
He was defensively solid and managed to create a few promising chances in the Cadiz half. He even completed a couple of impressive dribbles down the right flank.
CB: Eder Militao – 7/10
Militao made a few crucial interceptions at the back and created one key chance going forward.
CB: David Alaba – 7/10
Alaba was a dominant figure inside his half and was a threat at the other end as well.
LB: Ferland Mendy – 7/10
Mendy kept a solid shape on the defensive end of the field and had some lively moments in the Cadiz half. He got substituted in the 81st minute.
CM: Federico Valverde – 7.5/10
He hardly had to do any defending and had a good game in the opposition half. He engineered a few meaningful openings for others around him and made a couple of energetic runs as well.
CM: Casemiro – 7/10
The Brazilian midfield ace protected his backline when needed and orchestrated a few decent opportunities for his teammates to score.
CM: Toni Kroos – 8.5/10
The German playmaker created a lot of chances in the attacking end of the field and was a constant menace for the Cadiz defenders. He did everything but score tonight.
RW: Eden Hazard – 7/10
Hazard made a few exciting runs with the ball and linked up play quite well with his teammates up top. However, he lacked the cutting edge in front of the opposition goal.
ST: Karim Benzema – 7/10
The French striker engineered some inviting chances for his teammates but was a bit wasteful in the final third.
LW: Vinicius Junior – 7/10
He caused a lot of problems for the Cadiz defenders but won’t be pleased after failing to score during the 90 minutes.
Substitutes:
ST: Luka Jovic – 6/10
Jovic had a couple of promising moments but offered very little after coming off the bench.
LB: Nacho – N/A
He hardly had any time to make an impact.
