Chelsea faced off against Watford at Vicarage Road earlier tonight as they hoped to pick up all three points on their travels. The Blues made a solid start to the game and got themselves ahead in the 29th minute courtesy of Mason Mount’s goal from close range. However, the Hornets managed to net the equaliser just 13 minutes later when he found the back of the net with a brilliant finish. Both sides went into the half-time interval with a 1-1 scoreline.

The West London outfit grew in confidence in the second half and finally managed to regain their lead in the 72nd minute via Hakim Ziyech’s finish. The contest ended with Chelsea earning a narrow 2-1 win versus Watford.

Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player performed during the match against the Hornets.

GK: Edouard Mendy – 7.5/10

The talented keeper made some solid saves during the game and deserves credit for restricting the opposition from scoring more than once tonight.

CB: Trevoh Chalobah – 6.5/10

Chalobah was strong in the air and tidy with his passing. He got replaced in the 59th minute.

CB: Andreas Christensen – 7/10

He won quite a few 50-50 aerial duels and was not afraid to clear the danger when needed. Christensen also made some crucial interceptions at the back.

CB: Antonio Rudiger – 7.5/10

Rudiger was a rock at the back and made numerous clearances to deny the opposition from netting more than one goal tonight.

RM: Cesar Azpilicueta – 6.5/10

The Spaniard was a solid defensive presence out on the right flank but offered very little going forward.

CM: Ruben Loftus-Cheek – 6.5/10

Loftus-Cheek had a few lively moments in the Hornets half but didn’t offer enough protection to his backline.

CM: Saul Niguez – 6/10

He struggled to get a foothold in the game and got substituted at half-time.

LM: Marcos Alonso – 7/10

The Spanish talent did his fair share of defending but his impact was minimal in the final third.

RAM: Mason Mount – 8/10

Mount opened the goal-scoring with a good finish and also set up Ziyech’s match-winner in the second half.

LAM: Christian Pulisic – 6.5/10

He showed some glimpses of brilliance but didn’t get any sniff at goal.

ST: Kai Havertz – 8/10

Havertz made some decent runs with the ball and ended the game with an assist to his name.

Substitutes:

CB: Thiago Silva – 7/10

He cleared the danger when needed and did enough to secure a clean sheet for Chelsea in the second half.

RW: Hakim Ziyech – 7/10

Ziyech came off the bench and scored the match-winner with a neat finish.

ST: Romelu Lukaku – 6/10

The Belgian striker won a couple of aerial duels but failed to register a goal as a substitute.
