Aston Villa welcomed Leicester City at Villa Park earlier today as they focused on collecting all three points in front of their home fans. The Villans made a sloppy start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the 14th minute when Harvey Barnes scored with a calm finish. However, Steven Gerrard’s men came up with a response just three minutes later as Ezri Konsa found the back of the net with a faint touch. Both sides fought tooth and nail and went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.

It was Konsa who struck again for the West Midlands outfit in the 54th minute as he nodded the ball home from close range. The contest ended with the Villans securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory in the Midlands derby.

Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player performed during the match against the Foxes.

GK: Emiliano Martinez – 7/10

The Argentine keeper made a few solid saves to restrict the Foxes to just one goal during the 90 minutes.

RB: Matty Cash – 8.5/10

Cash won the ball back a few times inside his half and cleared his lines when needed. He also caused a lot of problems for the opposition in the final third.

CB: Ezri Konsa – 8/10

The English centre-back scored a goal in each half which ensured maximum points for the Villans. He also made some important clearances at the back.

CB: Tyrone Mings – 6.5/10

Mings made plenty of clearances on the defensive end of the field and was strong in the air.

He was solid at the back and had a couple of promising moments in the Leicester half.

The Scottish talent made some solid tackles and created a few decent chances in the attacking end of the field. He has got an assist to show for his efforts.

CM: Marvelous Nakamba – 7/10

Nakamba anchored the midfield with a lot of conviction but engineered one key chance going forward.

CM: Douglas Luiz – 6.5/10

He worked hard to make life difficult for the Foxes at the centre of the park.

RW: Emiliano Buendia – 7/10

The Argentine winger made a few clever runs with the ball and ended the game with an assist to his name.

ST: Ollie Watkins – 6.5/10

The English striker produced a tireless shift in the final third but didn’t get too many chances to score.

LW: Jacob Ramsey – 6.5/10

Ramsey had a few lively moments in the opponent’s half and tried to be creative with the ball at his feet.

Substitutes:

He offered very little after coming off the bench.
