Arsenal entertained Southampton at the Emirates Stadium earlier this afternoon as they focused on picking up a positive result in front of their home supporters. The Gunners made a great start to the game as they took the lead in the 21st minute via Alexandre Lacazette’s finish from close range. Martin Odegaard doubled the North London outfit’s advantage just six minutes later when he scored with a good header. Arsenal went into the half-time break with a healthy 2-0 lead.
Gabriel added another goal for the Gunners in the 62nd minute when he found the back of the net with a decent header. The contest ended with Mikel Arteta’s men cruising to a 3-0 victory at home.

The Arsenal defence got himself a goal with a good header after the hour mark. He kept things stable at the back as well and did enough to earn the clean sheet.
LB: Kieran Tierney – 7/10
Tierney performed his defensive duties well and ended the game with an assist to his name.
RW: Bukayo Saka – 7.5/10
The English wing wizard was a potent goal-threat throughout the game and made some excellent chances for his teammates. He has got an assist to show for his efforts but was unfortunate not to register a goal himself.
CM: Thomas Partey – 7/10
He anchored the midfield with conviction and engineered two good opportunities for his teammates to find the back of the net.
CM: Granit Xhaka – 6.5/10
The Swiss international protected his backline well but ran out of gas and got substituted in the 80th minute.
LW: Gabriel Martinelli – 8/10
Martinelli did his fair share of defending. He also orchestrated a few meaningful openings for others around him and picked a well-deserved assist in the process.
CAM: Martin Odegaard – 8/10
Odegaard managed to get his name on the scoresheet in the 27th minute with a solid header. He even created a couple of decent chances in the opposition half.
ST: Alexandre Lacazette – 8/10
The French striker gave Arsenal the lead with a good finish from close range. He worked hard and got replaced in the 82nd minute.
