In a recent interview with the Sun, former England winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has tipped Manchester City to sign Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette. When quizzed about who Man City should move in for in the future, Wright-Phillips said,

“Someone was talking to me about it the other day and I said ‘for me I would sign Ollie Watkins’.

“Or even Lacazette, he knows where the goal is. He knows how to bring people into play and I always believe that when he plays for Arsenal, their front three behind him seem to play better, there seems to be more of a link-up between them.”

Lacazette’s Mounting Frustrations At The Emirates Stadium This Season

Lacazette has played a sporadic role for the North London giants this season, especially in Premier League football. Still, the Frenchman has shown his class by scoring three goals and picking up one assist in nine matches for Arsenal this season across various competitions.

The 30-year-old has struggled to find consistency because of the lack of game time which could be why he is only averaging 0.7 shots, 0.8 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game in the Premier League. However, he needs to take care of the ball a bit better in the final third after making 70.8% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).

What Will Lacazette Add To Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola’s Team?

Lacazette is a quick and agile forward who can make a few dangerous runs with the ball in the attacking third of the pitch. He has a habit of creating space and getting some accurate shots in on-target.

The French sensation can be a composed finisher in front of the opposition goal when he is playing regularly on the pitch. A striker of his experience could be a good, short-term option for Man City to consider in January or next summer. The Arsenal attacker is good enough to offer some healthy competition for Gabriel Jesus and Phil Foden for a regular starting place at the Etihad Stadium.

We can expect Lacazette to add a lot of goals and pace to Pep Guardiola‘s frontline and could help the Mancunian giants challenge for some major trophies in the future as long as he can stay injury-free over the next few years.
