Chelsea took on Manchester United in this weekend’s high voltage clash at the Stamford Bridge in order to further increase their lead at the top of the table. After a frustrating half for the both the teams, Jadon Sancho broke the deadlock from Jorginho miscontrolling the ball as the United forward raced through on goal to finish past Mendy. Jorginho made amends from the penalty spot as the match ended in a draw ensuring Liverpool and Manchester City edge closer to the Blues at the top.
Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player performed during the clash against the Red Devils.
GK: Edouard Mendy – 6/10
The Senegalese goalkeeper had very little to do as United had only 2 shots on target including the goal. He made a rare mistake in the dying moments of the game but United failed to punish him.
CB: Trevoh Chalobah – 7.5/10
Chalobah was solid at the back although he was caused some problems by Rashford in the left side but kept his calm to keep the attacker at bay.
CB: Thiago Silva – 8.5/10
The Brazilian didn’t put a foot wrong the whole game as he was rock solid at the back giving the United attackers no chance to score from.
CB: Antonio Rudiger – 7/10
RWB: Reece James – 6.5/10
James didn’t have a productive outing today as he lacked the final ball in his game.
CM: Ruben Loftus-Cheek – 7/10
Loftus-Cheek made some key dribbles and progressed the ball well as he controlled the midfield.
CM: Jorginho – 5.5/10
Jorginho may have scored a goal to put Chelsea level but was sloppy in the middle of the park as he misplaced a lot of passes. His poor touch let Sancho through on goal as Chelsea fell behind in the game early in the 2nd half and had to chase the game for the rest of the minutes.
LM: Marcos Alonso– 6.5/10
Alonso tried to put in a few crosses into the box and his header early in the game let Hudson-Odoi through on goal which unfortunately he couldn’t finish.
RAM: Hakim Ziyech – 6.5/10
Ziyech was lively on the pitch and controlled the ball well. He also made some key passes leading to chances being created.
LAM: Callum Hudson-Odoi – 6/10
Hudson-Odoi was wasteful as he missed a glorious chance in the opening minutes of the game.
ST: Timo Werner – 6/10
Werner was not given any space to work with and didn’t do enough to score a goal by himself.
Substitutes:
ST: Christian Pulisic – 6.5/10
Pulisic looked lively after he came on and created a glorious chance for Rudiger in the dying minutes of the match.
CAM: Mason Mount – 6/10
Mount couldn’t effect the game after coming on.
