Newcastle United will welcome Norwich City at St. James’ Park this Tuesday night as they hope to pick up their first victory of this Premier League campaign. The Magpies suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal last Saturday which has kept them rooted at the bottom of the league table. Hence, Eddie Howe would be desperate for a much-improved showing from his players when they host the Canaries in midweek.
The Newcastle boss could opt for a 3-4-3 formation and will be forced to make some changes to his starting XI for this game. Both Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Ritchie are suspended for this match after picking up five yellow cards each this season. Thus, we can expect Jacob Murphy and Ciaran Clark to play from the start in this crucial bottom-of-the-table clash.
3-4-3 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Norwich City
Martin Dubravka will feature in between the sticks for the Magpies after he shipped in a couple of goals in his last league outing. Howe could choose to go with a back three of Ciaran Clark, Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth as the defensive trio try to stop the Canaries from scoring in midweek.
Javier Manquillo is expected to provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Joe Willock and Jonjo Shelvey will once again anchor the Magpies midfield. Both of them will have to work hard towards getting a stranglehold in the game at the centre of the park. Ryan Fraser will operate as the left wing-back while Jacob Murphy comes in on the other side to play as the right-sided wide player.
Jeff Hendrick and Isaac Hayden will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if needed.
Allan Saint-Maximin will hope to produce a fruitful display on the left flank while Joelinton gets another chance to prove his worth from the right. Callum Wilson will spearhead Howe’s attack down the middle as he carries most of Newcastle‘s goal-scoring workload up top.
Dwight Gayle is a major doubt for this game as he is carrying a hamstring injury but Miguel Almiron should be fit to start on the bench.
