Rodri Gets 9, Cancelo With 8.5 | Manchester City Players Rated In Comfortable Win Vs Everton

Must Read

Manchester City took on Everton at home, hoping to move second in the table with a win and keep up the pressure on table toppers Chelsea. City were left frustrated for the whole of the first half before Sterling came up with a goal from Cancelo’s beautifully weighted pass from the outside of his right foot. Manchester City then dominated the game with Rodri and Bernardo Silva adding two more to notch up a comfortable win against the Toffees.

Let’s take a look at how each Manchester City player fared during the match against the Toffees.

GK: Ederson – 7/10

The Brazilian keeper had a quiet outing today and only had to make one save during the game. He had a 100% passing accuracy and was faultless with the ball at his feet.

RB: Kyle Walker – 7/10

Walker didn’t have much defending to do as City were comfortable in possession. However, he won all his duels and made six ball recoveries.

CB: John Stones – 8/10

Stones was solid at the back and didn’t allow Richarlison any space to work with.

CB: Aymeric Laporte – 7/10

Laporte made some good tackles and was always at the right place at the right time to sweep out any Everton attack.

LB: Joao Cancelo – 8.5/10

Cancelo produced a beautiful assist with the outside of his right foot for City’s opening goal to break the deadlock. He also made some crucial interceptions and had a brilliant game going forward.

CM: Rodri – 9/10

Rodri scored a stunning goal early in the 2nd half to put City in command. He controlled the midfield and completed the most passes in the game.

CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 7/10

The German international hit the woodwork once and kept the ball well in his possession. He also made some good runs and went into good areas to score from.

RW: Raheem Sterling– 7.5/10

Sterling missed a couple of big chances but held his nerves to score City’s first goal from a beautiful pass from Cancelo.

ST: Cole Palmer – 7/10

The young striker dropped in between the lines to drag defenders out and produced a few key passes in City’s attack.

LW: Phil Foden – 7/10

Foden played only an hour of football but looked dangerous on that left side, putting in crosses and creating big chances.

Substitutes:

CB: Nathan Ake – 6/10

Ake came on in the closing minutes and didn’t have much to do.

ST: James McAtee – 6.5/10

McAtee looked lively in the five odd minutes he came on, also had a shot off target.

RW: Riyad Mahrez – 6/10

Mahrez failed to finish off a couple of situations.
