Everton are hoping to get back to winning ways as they take on Liverpool in the iconic Merseyside derby on Wednesday. The Toffees are simply not enjoying a good time at the moment, having failed to register a single victory since late September. As a result, the pressure is immense on Rafa Benitez, who will be fortunate enough to be facing Liverpool at Goodison Park rather than Anfield, and a win could be imperative if he is to improve his record at his new club.

Predicted Everton Lineup Vs Liverpool

Defence

Benitez is missing Yerry Mina with a long-term injury while Mason Holgate remains suspended following his red card against Tottenham Hotspur.

Hence, the Everton defence picks itself, with Michael Keane continuing his central defensive partnership alongside Ben Godfrey. It will be interesting to see how they deal with the Liverpool front three and it is certain they may require additional assistance from the fullbacks.

Seamus Coleman, in particular, may operate in a deeper right-back role. Lucas Digne, on the opposite flank, could be given a bit more freedom, as far as his offensive runs are concerned.

Jordan Pickford, meanwhile, should remain in goal for Everton. The Toffees will hope that the English international produces a solid display in between the sticks and retain a rare clean sheet.

Midfield

Everton are missing a host of key players in midfield. Andre Gomes and Tom Davies remain on the sidelines due to their respective injuries. Coach Rafa Benitez is also unlikely to utilise Jean-Philippe Gbamin, so the onus will be on Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure to offer that solidity in the middle of the park.

Allan is a vital cog in the press due to his ability to win back possession and control the play. As for Doucoure, he will use his driving runs forward to unsettle the opposition backline.

Attack

As for the attack, Benitez will be boosted by the return of Richarlison from suspension, although Dominic Calvert-Lewin should remain on the sidelines. Nevertheless, Richarlison should undoubtedly spearhead the Everton frontline, operating just ahead of the number nine Demarai Gray.

Additional creative support should be provided by the wide-attacking duo of Alex Iwobi and Andros Townsend, although Benitez also has the option to deploy Anthony Gordon.
