In a recent interview (via Manchester Evening News), talkSPORT pundit Trevor Sinclair urged West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice to stay put at the London Stadium amid interest from Manchester United. Sinclair said,

“I don’t think he’d (Rice) move to Manchester United, I really don’t.

“If you look at both teams and both sets of players, he’s better off staying at West Ham, for me.

“There’s a bit of glory there [Manchester United], obviously, because they’ve got 75,000 fans in the stadium, they’re supported throughout the world. But where have you got a better chance of picking up silverware?”

Rice’s Outstanding Form In English Football This Season

Rice has made an incredible start to this campaign after assuming a key role behind the Hammers’ recent good run of form in Premier League football. The 22-year-old has registered three goals and three assists in 15 matches for West Ham this season on all fronts.

The former Chelsea youth player has been a consistent performer at the heart of David Moyes’ midfield as he is averaging 2.7 tackles, 1.9 interceptions, 1.0 clearances, 1.1 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution based on his pass completion rate of 91.7% in league football (stats via whoscored).

Rice Urged To Remain At West Ham United: Good Move For Both Parties?

Rice is a tough-tackling midfielder who can sense the danger quickly to earn the ball back for his team. He is not afraid to put his foot through the ball when the opposition are looking to threaten his backline and can even make some energetic runs with the ball from midfield.

The England international has got the eye to play a killer pass in the attacking end of the field but needs to work on adding a few more goals to his game if he wants to lead the Hammers to a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

At 22, Rice is in for a very bright future in European football, so West Ham boss David Moyes will do well to keep hold of him for the long run. The English talent seems to be playing some of his best football at the moment. Thus, it will be a good move for both the player and the club if Rice commits his long-term future and extends his spell at the London Stadium.
