In a recent print edition, Marca claimed that Manchester United are ready to let Paul Pogba leave when his contract runs out next summer. It is believed that the Red Devils are not willing to offer the French midfield ace a new contract as they are not receiving enough return on their investment in the player.

Pogba’s Decent Run Of Form In Premier League Football

Pogba has experienced an up and down campaign at Old Trafford so far but has still managed to put in a run of influential displays at the heart of the Man United midfield. The ex-Juventus talent is currently out of action with a hamstring injury and is also serving a three-match suspension after receiving a red card against Liverpool. Still, he has done well to pick up seven assists in 13 appearances for the Red Devils this season in all competitions.

The 28-year-old has given a good account of himself by averaging 2.2 shots, 1.7 key passes and 2.0 clearances per game in Premier League football. Pogba has even taken good care of the ball when distributing possession from midfield, based on his pass success rate of 85% in league football (stats via whoscored)

Manchester United Willing To Cut Pogba Loose: Good Move For Both Parties?

Pogba remains a brilliant playmaker at the centre of the park as he has got the knack for playing a few decisive passes in the opposition half. He can use his robust frame to dominate the game in midfield and has got a wide range of passes in his locker.

The French sensation can even shoot the ball purely and with power that makes him a potent goal-threat from long range. However, he has been prone to injuries in recent seasons and has previously been subjected to criticism from the media for his comments off the field.

At 28, Pogba is currently enjoying his prime but has only got over six months remaining in his contract. He is on high wages which means that the Mancunian giants can lower their wage bill considerably if they decide to not offer him a new deal. The Frenchman can even benefit from a change of scenery following an underwhelming spell at Old Trafford thus far. All in all, Pogba’s exit at the end of this campaign will be a good move for both the player and the club.
