According to the Italian outlet Calciomercato, Liverpool will have to battle it out against four other clubs for the signing of Renato Sanches from Lille. AC Milan are heavily interested in his services but the Lille midfielder has also attracted interest from top clubs like Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid. Liverpool wanted to buy the Portuguese last summer but it is believed that the deal did not go through due to the midfielder’s meniscus injury. The 24-year-old has unfinished business in the Premier League as well, having failed to impress during a loan spell at Swansea City a few years ago, but he now seems confident to succeed here in England.
Renato Sanches In Fine Form
Renato Sanches seems to be in fine form after returning from his injury in October. He has featured in six league games this season and has started in the last three out of the four games for Lille and has again put his admirers on alert by roping in impressive performances. Due to a meniscus injury last season, Renato Sanches was unable to move to a big club after putting in stellar performances and being a stand out player in his club’s league win.
The Portuguese’s last term in the Premier League might not have been a success but it is believed that now is the time when he is ready and more mature as a player than he was earlier. The player is considered to be much more hungry to prove a point and be successful in the Premier League.
Why Klopp Should Buy The Midfielder?
Liverpool have not been able to replace the Dutch midfielder Gini Wijnaldum who left the club last summer and went to PSG for free. With the void being felt this season, Klopp is believed to be seriously pushing for a midfielder. Renato Sanches can be the man who can fill the void in Klopp’s team, as he is a very useful ball-carrier and in addition to his technical prowess and dynamism, the Portuguese starlet is also quite versatile. He can indeed operate as a central midfielder and a number ten, which could be very handy for Klopp as he looks to shuffle his troops more often in the middle of the park.
Now it remains to be seen if the Reds can fend off competition from the other top clubs who are interested in the midfielder. Liverpool are definitely more attractive and have greater financial power which makes them the favourites to land the midfielder but only time can tell if they decide to go for him.
