According to the editorial staff of 7 Gold (via Area Napoli), Everton have a concrete interest in Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne. However, it is understood that the Toffees could face competition in the form of Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan in pursuit of the Italian attacker.

Insigne’s Good Form At Naples This Season

Insigne has managed to make a promising start to this season as he has been responsible for producing a run of influential performances for the Naples outfit. The Frattamaggiore-born wing wizard has participated in 14 matches for Napoli in this campaign so far, netting five goals and picking up four assists in all competitions.

The 30-year-old has given a good account of himself out on the wide areas by averaging 1.0 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 3.6 shots, 2.5 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even distributed possession with conviction in the attacking end of the field, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 82.4% in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).

What Will Insigne Bring To Everton’s Attack At Goodison Park?

Insigne can use his pace and agility to cause a lot of headaches for his marker down the left wing. He loves to cut inside to either create some decent chances for his teammates or have a strike at goal himself.

The Italy international can get a lot of curl with his shot attempts from long range and has already proven his worth as a tidy finisher in front of the opposition goal. He hardly gives away the ball when linking up play with others around him, so Everton boss Rafael Benitez can definitely use someone of Insigne’s skillset who could come in and help the Toffees make a top-four push in the Premier League over the next few years.

The Napoli star will bring a lot of quality to Benitez’s frontline and could go on to strike up a productive attacking partnership with the likes of Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the coming seasons. Insgine’s current contract with Napoli is set to expire next summer. Thus, the Merseyside outfit should think about going all out to bring him to Goodison Park when he is available on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.
