Manchester City faced off against Brighton and Hove Albion at the American Express Community Stadium earlier this evening as they looked to pick up all three points on their travels. Pep Guardiola’s men made a quick start to the game and took the lead in the 13th minute courtesy of Ilkay Gundogan’s finish from close range. Phil Foden scored two quick-fire goals midway through the first half as Man City cruised to a 3-0 lead at the half-time break.

The Seagulls got a goal back in the 81st minute via Alexis Mac Allister’s penalty. However, Riyad Mahrez scored a brilliant injury-time goal which gave the Mancunian outfit a comfortable 4-1 victory away from home.

Let’s take a look at how each Man City player performed during the match against the Seagulls.

GK: Ederson – 6.5/10

The Brazilian keeper made a few solid stops during the game but will be disappointed after conceding a late goal.

RB: Kyle Walker – 6.5/10

Walker was solid at the back but could have offered a bit more going forward.

CB: Ruben Dias – 7/10

Dias performed his defensive duties quite well as he made a number of important clearances to keep the Seagulls frustrated for most of the game.

CB: Aymeric Laporte – 6.5/10

The Spanish defensive ace cleared his lines when needed and was a tidy passer of the ball.

LB: Joao Cancelo – 7/10

The Portuguese full-back made some important interceptions during the game and was a real menace in the final third.

CM: Bernardo Silva – 8/10

Silva was full of energy and running in midfield. He created some decent chances for others around him and has got an assist to show for his efforts.

CM: Rodri – 7/10

The Spaniard protected his backline well inside his half but struggled to influence the game in the attacking third.

CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 8/10

Gundogan did his fair share of defending and orchestrated some meaningful openings for others around him.

RW: Gabriel Jesus – 7.5/10

The Brazilian sensation caused all sorts of problems for the opposition defenders. He ended the game with an assist to his name.

ST: Phil Foden – 9.5/10

Foden was by far the best player on the field this evening. He scored two quick-fire goals in the first half and even picked up an assist during the game.

LW: Jack Grealish – 8/10

Grealish gave a good account of himself in the Brighton half and did well to secure an assist. He got replaced in the 76th minute.

Substitutes:

CM: Fernandinho – 6/10

He added some energy to Guardiola’s midfield.

CAM: Kevin De Bruyne – 6.5/10

De Bruyne came off the bench and created some decent chances for his teammates.

RW: Riyad Mahrez – N/A

He hardly got any time to make an impact but still managed to score with a superb strike in injury-time.
