Tottenham have been urged to sell Giovani Lo Celso by Michael Bridge during an interview with Give Me Sport. The Sky Sports reporter has levelled harsh criticism on the Argentine over his recent performances and insists he wants the player to leave the club next summer.

“Give him the ball, let’s see what he can do, because if not, he can go. I want him gone anyway in the summer; this Argentina stuff left me cold.” Bridge told Give Me Sport.

Giovani Lo Celso’s Struggles At Tottenham

Giovani Lo Celso has endured a steady downfall at Tottenham Hotspur ever since his move was made permanent during the start of 2020. The announcement came at the time when Christian Eriksen made the move to Inter Milan, leading many fans to ignore Lo Celso’s injury issues during the first half of the 2019/20 campaign.

The Argentine did silence the critics with a solid end to the campaign. But since then, things haven’t entirely gone his way, with the playmaker often struggling with fitness issues. Last season, he failed even to muster 1,000 minutes of league football, missing a chunk of the campaign due to a hamstring injury.

It has been the same story this season as well, with the former Paris Saint-Germain starlet starting in only one league game so far. He made no impact whatsoever in the game against Chelsea. Despite a relatively improved performance against NS Mura in Conference League, it is apparent that Lo Celso is currently struggling to find his form under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Should Tottenham Offload Him?

Tottenham Hotspur face a difficult situation in their creative department at the moment. None of their three players in Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli, have provided much to the table.

The club, therefore, should definitely look to offload at least one of these if they are to build a new core in the creative unit. Lo Celso, though, might not be an ideal departure as the Argentine has shown his quality at Tottenham before.

The 25-year-old has mainly had problems with lack of fitness and injuries. But he is undoubtedly more consistent than the likes of Ndombele and Alli. Not to mention, he is pretty versatile as well, having the ability to operate not only as an attacking midfielder but also as a wide player.

It bodes well for Nuno Espirito Santo, who needs tactical versatility and technical prowess to liven up his team’s creative unit. Lo Celso fits the bill perfectly due to his ability on and off the pitch, so it would perhaps be a wiser option for Spurs to keep a hold of the Argentine international for now.
