Barcelona locked horns with Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano earlier tonight as they hoped to grind out a result on the road. The Catalan outfit made a poor start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the 23rd minute when Thomas Lemar scored with a powerful strike. Luis Suarez doubled the home team’s advantage just before the half-time break when he found the back of the net with a calm finish. Barca trailed at half-time by a 2-0 scoreline and with a mountain to climb in the second half.

Both sides canceled each other out in the second 45 minutes as the contest finished with the Catalans suffering a 2-0  loss at the Spanish capital.

Let’s take a look at how each Barcelona player fared during the clash against Atletico Madrid.

GK: Marc-André ter Stegen – 5.5/10

The German keeper made one save throughout the game but won’t be pleased after conceding two goals in the first half.

RB: Oscar Mingueza – 5.5/10

Mingueza had a tough outing on the defensive end of the field. He also struggled to make an impact in the opposition half.

CB: Ronald Araujo – 6/10

He won a couple of decent aerial duels but like many of his teammates, he will be disappointed after conceding two goals in the first half.

CB: Gerard Pique – 6.5/10

The Spaniard won a lot of headers but his efforts were not enough for Barca to secure anything out of this game.

LB: Sergiño Dest – 6/10

Dest was far from convincing with his defensive contributions but still managed to catch the eye by making a couple of powerful runs with the ball.

CM: Sergio Busquets – 6.5/10

The Spanish midfielder used his experience well to give Barca a lot of control in midfield. However, he had an uneventful game in the final third.

CM: Nico Gonzalez – 5.5/10

He hardly got into the flow of the game and was substituted at the half-time break.

LW: Gavi – 6.5/10

Gavi had a couple of bright moments in the Atletico Madrid half. He also worked hard to help his teammates out at the back.

CAM: Philippe Coutinho – 6.5/10

The Brazilian attacker was Barca’s best hope for a goal tonight. However, he lacked the cutting edge in the final third.

RW: Frenkie de Jong – 6/10

He struggled to get into the rhythm of the game. However, de Jong did well to work tirelessly towards helping his teammates out at the back.

ST: Memphis Depay – 6/10

Depay was poor on the night as he failed to get his name on the scoresheet.

Substitutes:

RB: Sergi Roberto –  6/10

He added some energy to the Barca defence.

RW: Ansu Fati – 6/10

He didn’t get any sights at goal.

ST: Luuk de Jong – 6/10

De Jong was Koeman’s last throw of the dice.

CM: Riqui Puig – 6/10

He added some freshness to Barca’s midfield.

CB: Clement Lenglet – N/A

Lenglet hardly had any time to influence the game.
