In a recent print edition, ABC Sevilla mentioned that Arsenal wanted to sign Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri last summer. It is believed that the Gunners were among several clubs hoping to land the Morroco international in the last transfer window but the player had no intention of leaving Seville back then.
En-Nesyri’s Impressive Form In Spanish Football This Season
En-Nesyri has continued to excel as the focal point of Sevilla’s attack during this campaign. The 24-year-old banged in three goals and provided two assists in seven matches for the Spanish outfit this season in various competitions.
The Fes-born sensation has done well to average 1.8 clearances, 2.3 shots and 0.7 key passes per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even distributed possession relatively well in the attacking end of the pitch, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 76.4% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
Should The Gunners Go Back In For En-Nesyri Next Year?
En-Nesyri is a moderately-paced forward who has got a good work rate and doesn’t mind tracking back to help his teammates out when needed. The Morroco international is proficient at generating a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in at goal. He is a clinical finisher in front of the opponent’s goal and has got a good leap in him that helps him bang in some important goals with his head.
The Sevilla star can even contribute by picking up the odd assist that makes him such a valuable presence at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium. We can expect En-Nesyri to add plenty of goals to Mikel Arteta‘s frontline. He could also go on to form a lethal attacking partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the Emirates Stadium in the coming seasons.
At 24, En-Neyri’s best years are ahead of him which is why the Gunners should think about going back in for him next year. The Morroco international could even help the North London outfit get back to challenging for a place in the Premier League’s top-four over the next few years.
