West Ham United welcomed Manchester City at the London Stadium earlier tonight as they hoped to pick up a win and progress into the next round of the EFL Cup. Both teams canceled each other out in the first half and went into the half-time interval with a goalless scoreline.

The Hammers kept themselves in the contest in the second half and managed to grind out a 0-0 draw after normal time. The East London giants ended up winning on penalties by a 5-3 scoreline to knock Man City out of the EFL Cup.

Let’s take a look at how each West Ham player fared during the clash against Manchester City.

GK: Alphonso Areola – 8/10

The Hammers keeper made a lot of important saves to deny Man City from scoring during the 90 minutes. He will be happy with the clean sheet tonight.

RB: Ben Johnson – 7/10

He kept a good shape at the back and cleared his lines when needed on the defensive end of the field.

CB: Craig Dawson – 7/10

Dawson performed his defensive duties well and even stepped up to score his penalty in the shootout.

CB: Issa Diop – 7/10

He got stuck in with some crunching tackles to make life difficult for the Man City attackers.

LB: Aaron Cresswell – 7/10

He was solid when defending inside his half and made one good chance in the final third. He also scored his penalty in the shootout.

CM: Tomas Soucek – 7/10

Soucek protected his backline with a lot of conviction but was a bit lackluster in the attacking third of the field.

CM: Mark Noble – 6.5/10

The veteran midfield ace made one important interception and had a couple of lively moments in the Man City half.

RW: Nikola Vlasic – 6.5/10

He worked hard defensively but struggled to make an impact in the final third.

CAM: Manuel Lanzini – 6/10

Lanzini hardly got a sniff at goal but had a few lively moments in and around the Man City penalty box.

LW: Arthur Masuaku – 6.5/10

He was not shy of having a shot but didn’t do enough to get himself a goal.

ST: Andriy Yarmolenko – 6/10

Yarmolenko tried his best to lead the line on his own but was mostly an isolated figure up top.

CAM: Said Benrahma – 7/10

He went on to successfully convert his penalty in the shootout.

ST: Jarrod Bowen – 7/10

Bowen also kept his calm to score his penalty after normal time.

CAM: Pablo Fornals – 7/10

The Spaniard made two good chances after coming off the bench.

RB: Vladimír Coufal – N/A

He hardly had any time to make an impact.
