West Ham United welcomed Manchester City at the London Stadium earlier tonight as they hoped to pick up a win and progress into the next round of the EFL Cup. Both teams canceled each other out in the first half and went into the half-time interval with a goalless scoreline.
The Hammers kept themselves in the contest in the second half and managed to grind out a 0-0 draw after normal time. The East London giants ended up winning on penalties by a 5-3 scoreline to knock Man City out of the EFL Cup.

GK: Alphonso Areola – 8/10
The Hammers keeper made a lot of important saves to deny Man City from scoring during the 90 minutes. He will be happy with the clean sheet tonight.
RB: Ben Johnson – 7/10
He kept a good shape at the back and cleared his lines when needed on the defensive end of the field.
CB: Craig Dawson – 7/10
Dawson performed his defensive duties well and even stepped up to score his penalty in the shootout.
CB: Issa Diop – 7/10
He got stuck in with some crunching tackles to make life difficult for the Man City attackers.
LB: Aaron Cresswell – 7/10
He was solid when defending inside his half and made one good chance in the final third. He also scored his penalty in the shootout.
CM: Tomas Soucek – 7/10
Soucek protected his backline with a lot of conviction but was a bit lackluster in the attacking third of the field.
CM: Mark Noble – 6.5/10
The veteran midfield ace made one important interception and had a couple of lively moments in the Man City half.
RW: Nikola Vlasic – 6.5/10
He worked hard defensively but struggled to make an impact in the final third.
CAM: Manuel Lanzini – 6/10
Lanzini hardly got a sniff at goal but had a few lively moments in and around the Man City penalty box.
LW: Arthur Masuaku – 6.5/10
He was not shy of having a shot but didn’t do enough to get himself a goal.
ST: Andriy Yarmolenko – 6/10
Yarmolenko tried his best to lead the line on his own but was mostly an isolated figure up top.

He went on to successfully convert his penalty in the shootout.
ST: Jarrod Bowen – 7/10
Bowen also kept his calm to score his penalty after normal time.
CAM: Pablo Fornals – 7/10
The Spaniard made two good chances after coming off the bench.

He hardly had any time to make an impact.
