Leeds United clashed heads with Burnley at Turf Moor earlier today as they looked to pick up a positive result on the road. Both teams fought tooth and nail in the first half but struggled to be clinical in the final third as they went into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.
The home team took the lead courtesy of Chris Wood’s deflected goal in the 61st minute. However, the Whites found a late equalizer via Patrick Bamford’s finish in the 86th minute. The contest ended honours even with both teams playing out a 1-1 draw at Lancashire.
Let’s take a look at how each Leeds player performed during the clash against the Clarets.
GK: Illan Meslier – 6/10
The Whites keeper made a couple of saves but was unfortunate to find himself wrong-footed by the deflection in the lead-up to Chris Wood’s goal.
CB: Diego Llorente – 6.5/10
The Spaniard won his fair share of aerial duels and kept things relatively solid at the back in the first half. However, he got replaced after the hour mark.
CB: Pascal Struijk – 7/10
He was strong in the air and was tidy with his ball distribution. Struijk also made a couple of important interceptions for his team and cleared the danger when needed.
CB: Liam Cooper – 6.5/10
Cooper did well to cope with everything that the opposition threw at him. However, he won’t be happy for allowing a goal in the second half.
CM: Luke Ayling – 6.5/10
Ayling made some energetic runs with the ball but lacked the cutting edge in the Burnley half.
CM: Kalvin Phillips – 6.5/10
He got stuck in with some crunching tackles and engineered one key chance in the attacking end of the field.
CM: Stuart Dallas – 6/10
Dallas struggled to get a foothold in the game at the centre of the park and produced an unimpressive display going forward.
RAM: Raphinha – 7/10
The Brazilian winger played a big role in the lead-up to Bamford’s goal. He was a constant menace for the Clarets defenders and made a couple of decent openings for his teammates in the final third.
CAM: Rodrigo – 6.5/10
The Spanish sensation orchestrated two good chances for his teammates to score but failed to find the back of the net himself.
LAM: Jack Harrison – 7/10
He worked hard at both ends of the field and created a few excellent opportunities in the final third.
ST: Patrick Bamford – 7/10
Bamford scored the all-important equalizer in the 86th minute which salvaged a point for his side.
Substitutes:
CM: Jamie Shackleton – 6/10
He added some energy to Leeds’ midfield.
ST: Tyler Roberts – 6/10
Roberts hardly got a sniff at goal.
