Liverpool will entertain Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday evening as they look to secure a victory and keep their 100% winning record intact in the Premier League. The Reds have won both of their league matches without conceding a goal, so they will fancy their chances in this blockbuster clash at Merseyside.
Jurgen Klopp will stick with his preferred 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a few changes to his first XI for this game. Roberto Firmino could get the nod to start ahead of Diogo Jota up top. Fabinho and Andrew Robertson should also be back for this game which would mean that Harvey Elliott and Konstantinos Tsimikas will drop to the bench.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea
Defence
Alisson Becker will operate in between the sticks for the Merseysiders after he kept back-to-back clean sheets against Norwich City and Burnley respectively. Virgil Van Dijk will continue to feature alongside Joel Matip at the centre of the Liverpool defence as they try to neutralize the threat of Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku during the game.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will function at right-back while Andrew Robertson makes his first appearance of the season at left-back. Klopp would want both of his full-backs to push high up the field so that they can create enough chances for the Reds to win this crucial game in front of their home supporters.
Joe Gomez and Konstantinos Tsimikas will provide cover for the defensive positions on the Liverpool bench.
Midfield
Naby Keita, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson could make up the Liverpool midfield as they look to establish their dominance over the opposition at the centre of the park. All three of them will need to have a good game if the Reds are to come out on top versus the Blues this weekend.
Thiago Alcantara and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will have to be content with a place on the bench but could come on to make an impact in the second half if required.
Attack
Sadio Mane will look to produce a productive showing down the left-wing while Mohamed Salah tries to weave his magic and cause the Chelsea defenders a lot of problems from the right. Klopp might choose to start Roberto Firmino ahead of Diogo Jota because of the Brazilian’s guile and experience in big-game situations.
Jota might have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to impress in the latter stages if needed.
