According to a report from Manchester Evening News, Jack Harrison is closing in on Leeds United switch. The Manchester City winger has spent the last three seasons on loan at Elland Road but is now ready to make a permanent move. He is expected to cost around £15 million, although City are likely to include a sell-on clause for the highly-rated English winger.
Jack Harrison’s Success At Leeds United
Since joining the club in 2018, Jack Harrison has become an asset for Leeds United in the attacking department. He was involved in only seven goals in his first season at the club, as Leeds United missed out on promotion.
However, the winger upped his game in the following campaign, chipping in with six goals and eight assists. His contributions were crucial in helping the Whites secure the Championship, thereby returning to the Premier League.
There were some questions marks as to whether Harrison had the quality to impress in top-flight football. The Englishman, though, silenced his critics brilliantly, emerging as one of Leeds’ most valuable players with eight goals and eight assists.
The 24-year-old was indeed an ever-present figure in the attack, with only four players playing more minutes than him in the squad. His likely return to Elland Road, therefore, is hardly surprising.
Will Harrison Continue To Be A Star Player For Leeds?
It is only a matter of time before Jack Harrison returns to Leeds United. However, it is fair to point out that he may face more competition than last season, as the club looks to improve its ranks after a successful season.
Raphinha does face an uncertain future at the club, but given the current nature of the market, he could end up remaining at Elland Road. Helder Costa and Rodrigo are in a better position to leave the club after disappointing seasons.
However, Leeds United are more than likely to enter the market to find reinforcements in the wide attacking department. A quality signing out wide may pose a great threat to Harrison’s starting place at the club.
At the same time, though, the Englishman has showcased excellent mentality and fighting spirit during his time at Elland Road. He has now backed down from a challenge, consistently improving his game year after year. And with that in mind, it will be a surprise to see the winger losing his place in the first team next season.
