In a recent report, Sky Sports has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are facing stiff competition for Norwich City playmaker Emiliano Buendia this summer. It is believed that Spurs would have to rival Arsenal and Aston Villa among other Premier League clubs in the race to secure the services of the Argentine wing wizard during this summer transfer window (via Sky Sports).
Buendia’s Wonderful Season At Carrow Road
Buendia has enjoyed an incredible campaign with the Norfolk outfit as he has put in several productive displays as a key member of Daniel Farke’s attack. The 24-year-old has registered 15 goals and 17 assists in 41 matches for the Canaries this term across all competitions. His incredible contributions have helped Norwich win the league title and secure promotion back to the Premier League this season.
The Argentine sensation has proven his worth as an excellent two-way player at Carrow Road by averaging 2.4 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 2.8 shots, 3.1 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the EFL Championship. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing possession from the wide areas, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 78.6% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Buendia has established himself as one of the best players in the Championship but it remains to be seen whether he can maintain his excellent run of form in the Premier League where he has previously failed to give a good account of himself as a Norwich City player.
Is Buendia The Right Choice For Spurs?
Buendia is a quick and agile winger who loves to make some driving runs with the ball towards the byline. He has established himself as a prolific goal-scorer and a consistent assist-maker in the EFL Championship this season.
What makes him such a great option out on the flanks is his ability to work hard defensively when his teammates need him at the back. He is a decent tackler and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his side. Furthermore, Buendia can clear the danger quickly when in danger of being exposed on the defensive end of the field.
Tottenham are currently in dire need to add more quality to their squad so that they can challenge for a top-four place in the Premier League next season. The Canaries star fits the bill perfectly as he will add plenty of goals, creativity and stability to the London club’s starting XI. At 24, Buendia’s peak years are ahead of him which means that Spurs can expect to make the most out of his services if they can find a way to win the chase for his services this summer.
All in all, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would be wise to engineer a move to bring him to North London as he will be a great choice for them in the long run and could even help them compete for some major trophies over the next few years.
