In a recent report, Sport has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane is willing to join Barcelona this summer. It has been revealed that the England international fancies a move to the Nou Camp but is currently not one of Barca’s primary targets for this summer transfer window (via Sport).

Kane’s Prolific Goal-Scoring Record This Season

It has been a campaign of mixed emotions for Kane as he has once again failed to win any trophy with Spurs but has done well to bang in the goals for them consistently at the highest level. The 27-year-old has taken part in 46 matches for the North London club this term, registering 31 goals and securing 16 assists in the process across various competitions.

The London-born sensation has been a consistent performer for Spurs based on his average of 0.7 tackles, 1.2 clearances, 3.9 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football this season. However, Kane needs to take care of the ball a bit better after making 70.3% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

The 53-time England international’s current deal at North London will run out in the summer of 2024, so it would take a big-money move for the Catalans to land him at the end of this campaign. However, there is no denying that the recent financial complications brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic could make it difficult for Barca to win the race to land Kane this summer.

Is Kane A Dream Option For The Catalan Outfit?

Kane has a high football IQ and can get himself into some dangerous areas inside the opponent’s penalty box. He is a natural finisher in the attacking third and can be considered amongst the best goal-scorers in European football. The English striker can also contribute by picking up his fair share of assists up top. Thus, he will be a dream option for Barca to consider in this off-season.

Ronald Koeman is in dire need to add more firepower to his attacking department, so Kane fits the bill perfectly as he will bring plenty of goals, creativity and leadership to the Nou Camp. Furthermore, he can get the best out of the underperforming members of Koeman’s squad.

All in all, the Catalans would benefit from orchestrating a move to acquire the services of Kane as he will once again help them compete for major trophies in the coming seasons. In reality, Koeman would need to sell some of his stars but even then, the Barca boss might not have enough funds to convince Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to part ways with his star centre-forward in the summer.
