Newcastle United will clash heads with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Friday night as they look to grind out a result on the road. The Magpies suffered a home defeat against Arsenal by a 2-0 scoreline last weekend, so they will be a bit short on confidence when they lock horns with the Foxes later this week.

Steve Bruce will probably opt for a 3-5-2 formation and is expected to make one change to his first-team for this game. Joe Willock will come into the side at the expense of Sean Longstaff who will drop to the bench. However, it is worth noting that Fabian Schar is suspended for his game as he picked up a red card versus the Gunners earlier this month.

Defence

Martin Dubravka will feature in goal for the Magpies after shipping in two goals in his last league outing. Bruce might go with a back three of Federico Fernandez, Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett. The centre-back trio will look to keep Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho quiet during the 90 minutes.

Emil Krafth will offer cover for the defensive positions on the Newcastle bench.

Midfield

Jonjo Shelvey will anchor the midfield while both Miguel Almiron and Joe Willock function alongside him at the centre of the park. Their main focus would be to stop Leicester from creating too many openings from midfield.

Matt Ritchie will operate as a wing-back on the left flank while Jacob Murphy looks to impress on the other side as the right wing-back. Both of them will have to find a way to get in behind the Foxes backline so that they can deliver some decent crosses from the wide areas.

Jamal Lewis, Jeff Hendrick and Sean Longstaff will be available for selection on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine as a substitute if needed.

Attack

Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin will lead the line for the Magpies up top. Both of them will be responsible for carrying most of Newcastle’s attacking workload up top.

Dwight Gayle will have to settle for a spot on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second half if required.
