In a recent report, AS has claimed that Manchester City are the frontrunners to land Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland this summer. It is believed that the Mancunian giants have positioned themselves well in the race to acquire the services of the Norwegian frontman during this summer transfer window (via AS).

Haaland’s Excellent Record At Signal Iduna Park This Season

The 20-year-old has continued to perform at a high level for Dortmund this season as he has managed to be a consistent goal-scorer for them so far. Haaland has banged in 33 goals and grabbed ten assists in 35 matches for the German giants this term in various competitions.

The Norwegian whizkid has been at his absolute best in Europe where he has averaged 3.3 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in this UEFA Champions League campaign. However, he needs to take care of the ball a bit better when linking up play with his teammates in the final third after completing just 75.3% of his attempted passes in European football (stats via whoscored).

The former Molde youngster is a generational talent, so it is no surprise that Man City are leading the chase to bring him to the northwest of England when the summer transfer window commences later this year.

Will Haaland Be A Dream Signing For Pep Guardiola?

Haaland is currently amongst Europe’s most prolific goal-scorers, so he would be a dream addition to any top-flight side in Europe, including Man City. He is a natural goal-scorer who knows how to find a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in on-target.

The ten-time Norway international can also set up a goal-scoring chance for a teammate when they are in a better position inside the opposition penalty box. Furthermore, Haaland can also make some well-timed runs in behind the opponent’s backline which makes him a constant nuisance for most centre-halves in European football.

With all things considered, Haaland will be a dream signing for Pep Guardiola as he will add plenty of goals and assists to his frontline. Man City are in dire need to find a suitable replacement for Sergio Aguero, who is set to leave the club at the end of this campaign. Hence, Haaland would also serve as an excellent successor to the Argentine marksman at the Etihad Stadium and could help the Mancunian giants taste even more success in the coming seasons.
