In a recent report, Sport1 has claimed that Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland ‘favours’ a move to Manchester City along with Real Madrid this summer. It is believed that the Norwegian goal machine is open to a switch to join the Premier League leaders even though his departure from Dortmund is ‘unlikely’ at the end of this campaign (via Sport1).

Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola provided an update on his client’s future in a recent interview with Sport 1 as he said,

“I can confirm that I was in Dortmund for talks. Michael Zorc made it clear to us that BVB don’t want to sell Erling this summer. I respect that opinion, but that doesn’t automatically mean that I also agree with it. BVB were very clear in their views. We are okay with that”.

Haaland’s Excellent Numbers For Dortmund This Season

Haaland is having another outstanding campaign at Signal Iduna Park after producing several match-winning displays as the spearhead of the Dortmund attack. The Norwegian striker has scored 33 goals and earned ten assists in 34 matches for the German outfit this term across all competitions.

The 20-year-old has been in sensational form in Europe where he is averaging 3.6 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in the UEFA Champions League this season. However, he has been a bit untidy when distributing possession deep inside the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 72.5% in European football (stats via whoscored).

What Will The Norwegian Frontman Add To Pep Guardiola’s Team?

Haaland has established himself as a goal-scoring machine in domestic and European football so far this season. He is an exceptional finisher in front of the opposition goal and has got the intelligence to get himself into some promising positions in the final third.

The Norway international can also create some inviting openings for others around him and is proficient at making some well-timed runs in behind the opponent’s backline. He can use his powerful 1.94m frame to win a lot of aerial duels which makes him a potent goal-threat from indirect set-pieces.

Why Man City Need To Get Haaland On Board This Summer

With Sergio Aguero set to leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of this campaign, Pep Guardiola needs to find a suitable replacement for the Argentine talisman. Haaland fits the bill perfectly as he would add a lot of goals to his frontline and would be a signing for the long -run. If Man City can fund a move to get the Norwegian sensation on board in this off-season, they should consider doing so as he is a generational talent who would propel them to tasting even more success in the years to come.
