Chelsea entertained Brighton and Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge earlier tonight as they looked to pick up all three points at home. Both sides fought tooth and nail in the first half but struggled to make the breakthrough in the final third as they went into the half-time break with a 0-0 scoreline.
The Blues pushed on in search of the winner but were not clinical enough in front of the Brighton goal as they were held to a scoreless draw at the English capital.
Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player performed during the clash against the Seagulls.
GK: Kepa Arrizabalaga – 7/10
The Spanish keeper made a couple of good saves during the game and did enough to bag the clean sheet. He was also tidy with his ball distribution.
CB: Andreas Christensen – 7/10
Christensen was strong in the air and made two important interceptions for his team. He will be pleased with the clean sheet tonight.
CB: Kurt Zouma – 7/10
The French defensive ace was a rock at the back as he was always willing to clear his lines when required. He also won some aerial duels and was accurate with his passing.
CB: Antonio Rudiger – 7/10
The German centre-half kept a good shape inside his half and did what was asked of him. He was lively on the ball and hardly gave away possession during the 90 minutes.
RM: Reece James – 6.5/10
James performed his defensive duties well but lacked the cutting edge in the Seagulls half.
CM: Jorginho – 7.5/10
The Italian midfield ace protected his backline with everything he had and made some promising runs with the ball from midfield.
CM: Mason Mount – 6.5/10
He had a few bright moments in the game but didn’t do nearly enough to get himself a goal.
LM: Marcos Alonso – 6/10
The Spaniard didn’t do much wrong in the game but struggled to influence the game in the attacking third.
RW: Hakim Ziyech – 6/10
Ziyech failed to get into the flow of the game and flattered to deceive with his performance in the opposition half.
ST: Kai Havertz – 6/10
He produced another poor attacking display during his time on the pitch and got replaced after the hour mark.
LW: Christian Pulisic – 7/10
Pulisic stretched the Brighton defence well with his clever running but was not clinical enough in the final third.
Substitutes:
CAM: Callum Hudson-Odoi – 6/10
He added some pace to the Blues attack.
ST: Timo Werner – 6/10
The German striker never got a sniff at goal.
ST: Olivier Giroud – 6/10
Giroud had a couple of shots and was more of a threat than Havertz.
