In a recent report, Birmingham Mail has offered an update on Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham’s future amid recent interest from Aston Villa. It has been reported that the Blues centre-forward has held clear-the-air talks with his gaffer, Thomas Tuchel, over his future at Stamford Bridge, with the Villans keen on offering him an escape route this summer (via Birmingham Mail).
Abraham’s Growing Frustrations At The English Capital This Season
Abraham enjoyed a great start to this campaign, but he seems to have lost his way at West London, especially after the appointment of Tuchel as the club’s new manager. The London-born attacker has banged in 12 goals and secured six assists in 30 appearances for the Blues this term on all fronts.
The 23-year-old has left a lot to be desired with his all-round contributions in the attacking third as he is averaging 1.6 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in this Premier League campaign. He also needs to take care of the ball a bit better when interchanging possession in the opponent’s half after completing 72.8% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Tuchel has preferred to use Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Olivier Giroud for the centre-forward position in recent weeks, so if Abraham’s situation doesn’t change for the better soon, he will be better off opting for a change of scenery during the summer transfer window.
What Does The English Forward Offer On The Pitch?
Abraham is a powerful runner with the ball and has got the strength and quickness to cause a lot of problems for the opposition centre-halves. Standing at 1.90m, he can be a dominant presence in the air and can score his fair share of goals via headers.
The six-time England international can be a consistent goal-getter when he is firing on all cylinders in the final third. However, he can sometimes lack the confidence and self-belief to find the back of the net regularly which could be why he has struggled to impress Tuchel thus far.
Should The Villans Get Abraham On Board In The Summer?
Abraham has previously experienced a fruitful loan spell at Villa Park, so he knows the club well and could be a good fit for Dean Smith’s side in the long-run. At 23, the English sensation is only going to get better with each season and will be guaranteed regular playing minutes at the West Midlands club.
Hence, the Villans should think about getting Abraham on board at the end of this campaign if Chelsea are willing to entertain offers for his services. He will undoubtedly add more competition for Smith’s first-choice forward, Ollie Watkins and could prove to be a shrewd signing for the Premier League side this summer.
