Tottenham Hotspur clashed heads with Aston Villa at Villa Park earlier tonight, looking to get a victory on their travels. Spurs made a bright start to the game and took the lead in the 29th minute courtesy of Carlos Vinicius’ goal. The North London outfit managed to keep a good defensive shape and went into the half-time interval one goal to the good.
Harry Kane killed the game off in the 68th minute when he converted his penalty as Jose Mourinho’s men earned a comfortable 2-0 victory at the West Midlands.
Let’s take a look at how each Tottenham player performed during the contest against the Villans.
GK: Hugo Lloris – 7/10
The French keeper was mostly untroubled during the game and secured an easy clean sheet away from home.
RB: Japhet Tanganga – 7.5/10
The English defensive ace made several crucial clearances at the back and pulled off a couple of promising dribbles down the right flank.
CB: Davinson Sanchez – 7.5/10
The Tottenham centre-back dealt with everything that came his way and was a dominant presence in the air. He will be quite content with the clean sheet tonight.
CB: Joe Rodon – 7/10
Rodon won two important aerial duels and was tidy with his passing. He also read the danger quickly and won the ball back a few times during the clash.
LB: Sergio Reguilon – 6.5/10
The Spanish full-back had a couple of bright moments in the game but got replaced before the hour mark.
RW: Giovani Lo Celso – 6/10
The Argentine playmaker struggled to create too many clear-cut chances in the final third. He ran out of gas and got replaced in the second half.
CM: Tanguy Ndombele – 8/10
Ndombele bossed the game at the centre of the park and made several dangerous runs from midfield.
CM: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg – 7.5/10
He offered some bite and steel to the Tottenham midfield and worked hard to provide enough defensive cover for his teammates at the back.
LW: Lucas Moura – 9/10
The Brazilian speedster did his fair share of defensive work and was unstoppable in the Villans half. He orchestrated some meaningful chances for others around him and made multiple direct runs towards the opponent’s penalty box. Moura ended the game with an assist to his name.
ST: Harry Kane – 8/10
The English striker was guilty of squandering some decent chances to find the back of the net. However, he finally managed to get his name on the scoresheet via the penalty spot in the 68th minute.
ST: Carlos Vinicius – 7/10
Vinicius gave Spurs the all-important lead in the 29th minute. However, he was mostly ineffective throughout the remainder of the game.
Substitutes:
LB: Ben Davies – 6.5/10
Davies was solid at the back but failed to influence the game at the other end.
RM: Steven Bergwijn – 6/10
He added some pace to Mourinho’s attack.
CM: Moussa Sissoko – 6/10
The French midfield ace struggled to get into the game.
