In a recent report, AS has claimed that Stade Rennais midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is eager to join Real Madrid. It is believed that the French midfield ace wants to play for Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane and is open to a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this summer (via AS).
Camavinga’s Impressive Season At Roazhon Park
The Miconje-born sensation has been a consistent feature at the heart of the Rennes midfield and has been responsible for producing a run of dominant displays in the Ligue 1 so far. Camavinga has participated in 32 matches this term, scoring one goal and providing two goals in the process across all competitions.
The 18-year-old has influenced the game at both ends of the field as he is averaging 2.8 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 0.7 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the French top-flight this season. Camavinga has been excellent when distributing the ball from midfield after making 88.7% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
The French prospect has taken great strides towards improving his overall game this season, so Real Madrid would be wise to make an attempt to recruit him during the summer transfer window. At 18, he has the potential to become a generational talent which makes him an excellent long-term option for Zidane to consider in this off-season.
What Are The French Starlet’s Best Attributes?
Camavinga is a well-rounded midfielder and can do a bit of everything at the centre of the park. He is a moderately paced player who can make some powerful runs with the ball and has got the vision to play a decisive pass in the final third. Camavinga also possesses the energy to get up and down the field quickly which makes him a decent box to box midfielder. The French teenager can use his strength to shield the ball and retain possession in tight spaces but needs to add a few more goals and assists to his name if he wants to succeed at the highest level.
Why Los Blancos Need To Get Camavinga On Board
Zidane needs to add quality and depth to his squad this summer, so Camavinga fits the bill perfectly as he will undoubtedly bolster Real Madrid’s midfield options in the coming seasons. The Madrid head coach has got an ageing midfield as both Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos are on the wrong side of their 30s.
Camavinga will be a good option to replace Modric who has less than six months remaining in his Madrid contract. The French whizkid will add a lot of long-term value to the Spanish club, so Zidane should try everything in his power to try and bring him to the Bernabeu when the transfer window reopens later this summer.
