Manchester United entertained Newcastle United at Old Trafford earlier tonight as they looked to earn all three points at home. The Red Devils made a good start to the game and took the lead at the half-hour mark when Marcus Rashford got his name on the scoresheet. However, Allan Saint-Maximin equalised for the Magpies just six minutes later, which meant that both sides went into the half-time break all level on the scoreline.

Daniel James broke the deadlock in the 57th minute before Bruno Fernandes made the points secure with his 75th-minute penalty. The contest ended with Man United earning a comfortable 3-1 win at the Theatre of Dreams.

Let’s take a look at how each Man United player performed during the match against the Magpies.

GK: David de Gea – 7/10

The Spanish keeper made some important saves and did well to restrict the Magpies to just one goal.

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6/10

He got stuck in with a couple of tackles but struggled to influence the game in the opposition half.

CB: Victor Lindelof – 6/10

Lindelof cleared his lines when needed and was relatively tidy with his ball-distribution out from the back.

CB: Harry Maguire – 7.5/10

The English defensive ace was a commanding figure inside his half and made several essential defensive contributions for his team. He was also good on the ball and has got an assist to show for his efforts.

The Brazilian midfield ace offered decent protection for his teammates at the back and was lively in the Newcastle half.

CM: Nemanja Matic – 7/10

The Serbian talent controlled the game well from midfield and gave a good account of himself during the 90 minutes.

RM: Daniel James – 7.5/10

James got his name on the scoresheet in the 57th minute to give Man United the lead again. He worked hard and got subbed before the end of the game.

The Portuguese playmaker ran the show in the Newcastle half and ended the match with a goal and an assist to his name.

LM: Marcus Rashford – 9/10

The English striker created a lot of headaches for the Magpies defenders and completed a few dangerous dribbles with the ball. He gave Man United the all-important lead with a powerful strike early in the game and also earned a second-half penalty for his team.

ST: Anthony Martial – 7/10

Martial had some bright moments in the game but didn’t do nearly enough to find the back of the net.

Greenwood was quite direct with his runs and produced an energetic cameo off the bench.

CAM: Juan Mata – N/A

He did not get enough time to make an impact.
