In a recent interview (via Sky Sports), Aston Villa boss Dean Smith delivered an encouraging update on Jack Grealish’s injury. Smith said,

“He [Grealish] won’t be ready for tomorrow, but he’s getting better.

“People have been speculating for how long he’s going to be out for but I’m not sure how they can do that when I don’t know, the doctor doesn’t know and Jack himself doesn’t know.

“I was very vague last week because it is a bit of a strange injury. Jack could be back to play against Sheffield United on Wednesday or Wolves next week so we’ll very much be judged by Jack on that.

“It’s a lower leg injury. He had some discomfort, so he went to see the doctor and they decided that he needed a period of rest until he was pain-free.

“I believe that he’s very close to being pain-free now and such is Jack he’ll want to play as soon as he can.”

Grealish’s Incredible Season At Villa Park Despite Recent Injury

Grealish suffered a lower leg injury in training earlier this month and missed Aston Villa’s 1-0 victory over Leeds United last Saturday. Before his injury, he was having a terrific season at Villa Park as he has been responsible for putting in a series of dazzling performances from the left side of Dean Smith’s attack.

The 25-year-old has participated in 23 matches for the West Midlands club this term, registering seven goals and 12 assists in all competitions. The English midfield ace has been one of the most consistent midfielders in the Premier League after averaging 2.1 shots, 3.4 key passes and 2.8 dribbles per game in league football this season. Grealish has also distributed possession with ease and grace by completing 83.2% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

What Are The English Sensation’s Best Attributes?

Grealish is a technically gifted footballer who can deceive his marker with his clever movement and excellent ball control. He has proven his worth as a productive playmaker in the Premier League due to his tenacity for scoring and setting up his fair share of goals for his team.

The England international is also not afraid to track back and defend when required which makes him such an invaluable member in the Aston Villa dressing room. He leads by example on the pitch and tends to raise his game for the big occasions against the high-profile teams in England.

Grealish Could Return Vs Sheffield United: Big Boost For The Villans?

With some exciting fixtures coming up against the Blades and later, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United respectively, Grealish’s potential return in the next game will be a massive boost for the Villans as they will benefit a lot from having their captain back heading into March.

The West Midlands outfit had to work hard to grind out a 1-0 win over Leeds United last Saturday, but they might find it difficult to cope without their skipper’s presence in the coming weeks. Grealish has been the heart and soul of Dean Smith’s side over the past 18 months, so his importance at Villa Park cannot be overstated in this crucial juncture of the Premier League campaign.
