Arsenal Eyeing A Deal For Real Madrid Starlet: What Should This Youngster Decide?

Martin Odegaard has already started to turn eyeballs at the Emirates Stadium with two consecutive starts in the number 10 role for the Real Madrid loanee. The midfielder completed his temporary switch to London on January 27th earlier this year.

Arsenal’s head coach, Mikel Arteta, is seemingly convinced with his January acquisition on loan. A report by The Mail has stated that the English side might be considering a permanent move for the young midfielder. The manager even went a step further and stated that Arsenal’s delegation will hold talks with the Norweigan in the coming summer.

The manager has also been quick to spot the leadership abilities and qualities that Odegaard possess at the young age of 22. Mikel Arteta has been quoted saying –

“He is a young leader.

On the pitch he is showing a lot of character and a lot of intelligence. They are characteristics that a leader should have.

He has been here a very short time but he has adapted very quickly. He is getting more and more respect from the players and the staff and his weight on the team will increase with every week

We have Martin for a few months from Real Madrid and first of all we have to maximise this time with him to try to bring to the team all the qualities he has.

At the end of the season we will sit together and decide where we can take that relationship forward. At the moment it doesn’t just depend on us.”

Ultimately the decision on Odegaard’s future lies with Real Madrid who will be taking an ultimate call in the summer. It will not be wrong to rule out the possibility of Odegaard leaving Santiago Bernabeu on a permanent basis at the end of his loan stint at Arsenal.

What Should Odegaard Do?

One of the primary reasons for Odegaard leaving Madrid this season was the lack of game time on offer for him with the likes of Isco, Modric, Kroos, Casemiro, Valverde and Asensio all present in the Los Blancos squad. However, the Noreweign should remember that he first arrived at the scene in Madrid in 2015 and had toiled hard until the start of the current season to make his way back into the Real Madrid squad.

The game time may seem limited and numbered for Odegaard at the moment, but with the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric already in their 30’s, Odegaard’s chance to rise and shine at Real could be on its way very soon. Additionally, Odegaard should be taking into account the fact that the Whites are evidently building a team that will dominate Europe in the years to come with the likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe poised to join the 13 times European Champions. The 22-year-old wizard would certainly want to be a part of this ambitious Real Madrid project with assured game time for a player of his calibre.
