Rangers target (as claimed by the Daily Record a couple of weeks ago) Fashion Sakala is a man in great demand amid interest from Premier League outfits West Ham and Newcastle United, the Scotsman has reported. The KV Oostende hitman opted not to extend his stay beyond the summer of 2021 and is eligible to pen pre-contract agreement in case the same has been lined up by the Glasgow giants.

The 23-year-old Zambian international has fired in eight goals in 19 games so far this campaign (stats via Transfermarket) and has drawn the attention of many for his pace, flair and goal-poaching traits. Although the Gers are yet to rope in Sakala, former Hearts defender Toby Sibbick (who spent the first half of the season at Oostende) has backed the centre-forward to make it big under Steven Gerrard.

“Fashion has a lot of pace and is direct on the ball. He can play as the main striker but also out wide and I know having played against Rangers last season they play with a front three so he can fill in on either wing because he likes to get on the ball and beat players one on one.”

The Barnsley youngster told the Daily Record in a recent interview.

Why Rangers Should Secure The Deal

The Bears have tied down an array of new names since Gerrard’s arrival. The squad underwent a transition and the patience is finally paying off with Rangers closing in on their first-ever league title in a decade time. They have a lethal attacking line with Alfredo Morelos, Jermain Defoe and Cedric Itten being the outright ‘number 9’ options. Kemar Roofe is also effective from the middle, however, there might be a void next season due to potential summer exits.

Defoe, 38, is at the twilight of his career and might hang his boots upon expiration of his contract at the end of the ongoing term. Alfredo Morelos is not scoring enough goals but has exhibited his all-round ability with high work ethics, contribution to the build-ups as well as movement in and around the box. A transfer last year did not materialize following the coronavirus crisis and Rangers target Fashion Sakala would be a worthy inclusion in case the suitors come up with an offer for the Colombian a few months later. He has similarities with Morelos in terms of scoring traits and his arrival on a Bosman would be a massive coup if a deal is struck in the coming days.
