According to The Telegraph & Argus, Ryan Edmondson has emerged as a transfer target for Bradford City. The League Two outfit are keen on adding more reinforcements in their attacking department, with the Leeds United striker being identified as a potential option. However, they could face stiff competition from Aberdeen who are also interested in permanently securing the services of the 19-year-old.

Ryan Edmondson’s Rapid Rose To Prominence

A native of York, Edmondson joined the Leeds United academy back in 2017, as part of the club’s U-18 setup. He joined the club in search of a breakthrough in professional football, and to his credit, worked his way up to the ranks. In fact, the youngster was promoted to the reserve side of Leeds United in the summer, as the striker was set to play with the U23s.

However, instead of spending another year in Yorkshire, the 19-year-old was shipped out to Aberdeen on a season-long loan deal. And the move, it seems, has worked wonderfully for the player, who has now successfully made his professional breakthrough.

Indeed, Edmondson has made an impressive 14 appearances in the Scottish Premiership this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists. Although he is not the first-choice striker at Aberdeen, the youngster has raised quite a lot of eyebrows, with his contributions helping his club maintain their status as the third-best team in Scotland this season.

Does Edmondson Have A Future At Leeds United?

Edmondson is expected to return to Elland Road in the summer, following the end of his loan spell at Aberdeen. However, with the Whites likely to stay up in the Premier League, the club’s focus will surely be on adding more quality to their ranks rather than relying on academy stars.

The likes of Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford have already done well so far. As for the academy, the Yorkshire giants boast the services of former Arsenal whizkid Sam Greenwood. The 18-year-old striker has shown a lot promise in the Premier League 2 this term while recently making his senior debut against Crawley Town this past weekend.

It doesn’t bode well for Edmondson, who is likely to fall behind Greenwood in the pecking order as far as Leeds United’s academy options are concerned. Hence, a move away from Elland Road could be the best option for the youngster.

Prolonging his stay at Aberdeen, in that regard, could be a better option than Bradford City as far the player is concerned. The Scottish club will offer him an opportunity of not only playing in top-flight football but perhaps even the Europa League, something that looks unreachable even for Leeds United at the moment.
