Everton will entertain Chelsea at Goodison Park on Saturday night as they look to return to winning ways in the Premier League. However, it won’t be easy for them to pick up maximum points as the Toffees are not playing well at the moment. The Merseyside outfit are winless in their last two league outings and will face off against a Chelsea side that beat Leeds United by a 3-1 scoreline last weekend.
Carlo Ancelotti is expected to opt for a 4-3-3 formation but will be sweating on the fitness of Fabian Delph who is a major doubt for this game. Lucas Digne won’t be available for selection due to suspension, so Everton would need Delph to pass a late fitness test so that he can start at left-back.
4-3-3 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea
Defence
Jordan Pickford will retain his spot in goal for the Toffees after he failed to secure a clean sheet versus Burnley last weekend. Michael Keane will partner Yerry Mina at the heart of Ancelotti’s defence as they look to restrict the Blues attackers from causing too many problems on Saturday.
Ben Godfrey could lineup as a makeshift right-back while Fabian Delph will operate on the other flank as a makeshift left-back. Ancelotti will ask both of them to maintain a solid defensive shape at the back and keep mistakes to a minimum.
Midfield
The Toffees will lineup with their strongest midfield of Andre Gomes, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure as they try to interchange possession amongst each other to create some decent chances for the front players in the attacking third.
Gylfi Sigurdsson and Tom Davies will make up the numbers on the Everton bench as they offer cover for the midfield positions.
Attack
The Merseyside club are expected to go with a frontline comprised of Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Rodriguez. Calvert-Lewin has been a regular goal-scorer in the Premier League this season, so he will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net when he laces up to face the Blues defenders this weekend.
Cenk Tosun will have to be content with a spot on the bench but could come on to influence the game in the latter stages of the game if required.
