Nikhil has been an avid Chelsea fan for as long as the concept of time has existed and rumours say that he even bleeds blue. Having lived in the UK for 3 years, Nikhil is said to have an excellent understanding of the atmosphere surrounding the English game. His role model is the greatest manager of all time - Jose Mourinho.

According to a recent report by the Daily Express, La Liga giants Barcelona are said to be interested in acquiring the services of Manchester United’s Portuguese international midfielder Bruno Fernandes. The gifted attacker has been the life and blood of this United side ever since he first joined last winter, and since that point, he has singlehandedly won Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men a number of key matches. It has been claimed in the report that Manchester United are well aware of this interest, and that they’re keen to tie him down to a renewed contract.

Although the report has claimed that Barcelona are keen on Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, whether or not the Premier League side are willing to let him go at any price remains to be seen. It has been suggested that the midfielder is attracting interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid as well. United are said to be considering offering the midfielder £200k a week, to try and ensure that he isn’t tempted to find a move away. With that said though, it must be taken into account that when the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid come calling, it’s hard to ignore those calls.

What Is Barcelona’s Current Midfield Situation?

The Catalan side actually have a number of strong options in the attacking midfield role, with both Philippe Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann options in that number ten slot. With Martin Braithwaite now seemingly the first-choice striker at the club, the likes of Griezmann, Messi and Coutinho have been allowed to play alternate roles. Despite this abundance of options on the core of the team, the La Liga outfit have struggled to find consistency over spells this season. Their most recent defeats to Cadiz and Juventus in Europe highlighted some of the flaws in Ronald Koeman’s attack-minded Barcelona setup.

What Makes Bruno Fernandes A Good Option For Barcelona?

The forward arrived from the Portuguese top flight last season and has since developed into one of the biggest fan-favourites at Manchester United. Not only has his influence been felt within the team, but it has now reached a point where fans wouldn’t be able to picture the Old Trafford club without Fernandes standing out as their most important player. His goals and assists have both been vital to most of the progress they’ve made, and if it wasn’t for his presence, there’s no way they would’ve finished in a Champions League place last season.

Having now been eliminated from that competition, Fernandes could be tempted to rethink whether Old Trafford is the right destination with the best interest of his future in mind. An attacking midfielder by position, Fernandes is at his best when given a free role in the middle of the park. He is capable of picking out sensational forward passes to teammates, to the extent that most Premier League clubs now prefer to put a marker on him. Not just that, Fernandes also has a habit of popping up in important positions, which is a quality that this Barcelona team has been calling out for.

Barcelona Are Keen On Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes: This Would Be A Smart Move

The Portuguese, during his short time at Old Trafford so far, has proven that he has got the quality required to transform teams. Although his impact has been limited due to all the struggles that United have been through, moving to a club like Barcelona would certainly open up the floodgates. Barcelona, for all the good players that they’ve got, haven’t been in the best attacking form so far this season, and Fernandes could be the way to go towards addressing that concern. His passing and finishing skills are both right up there with the best, and if they’re able to generate the funds by selling some unwanted players, then this could turn out to be an absolute steal of a transfer.
