Premier League giants Chelsea will be looking to continue their strong run of league form when they welcome London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to Stamford Bridge this weekend. The Blues are coming into this tie on the back of securing qualification into the knockout rounds of the Champions League after they beat Ligue 1 side Rennes by a 2-1 scoreline. Goals from Callum Hudson-Odoi and Olivier Giroud were enough for the Blues to secure all three points in that clash.
For the upcoming match though, Lampard is expected to ring in the changes. Tottenham themselves have been in a fine run of form in the league, having even beaten Manchester City last weekend. Chelsea’s most recent league clash saw them beat Newcastle United by a 2-0 scoreline, thanks to solid work from the likes of Timo Werner, Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Edouard Mendy. This derby is sure to come as a massive test of the London clubs’ credentials.
Chelsea have what is a full-strength squad to choose from, with Billy Gilmour the only player who’s unlikely to make his way into the team. However, because the young Scot played in an academy game recently, it wouldn’t be overly shocking to see him return to the squad. Lampard rested several key names in the win against Rennes, which means that the Blues could get back to their best eleven for this encounter. Christian Pulisic could be ready in time for this match too.
Here Is The Predicted 4-3-3 Chelsea Lineup Vs Tottenham Hotspur:
Predicted 4-3-3 Chelsea Lineup Vs Tottenham Hotspur
Edouard Mendy, since making his way into this Chelsea side, has been nothing short of a revelation. The Senegalese stopper has put an end to the Blues’ habit of leaking goals, and he is undoubtedly the first-choice name at the club right now. In front of him, expect Lampard to return to the same centre-half combination which has been doing such a good job over recent weeks. Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma are expected to start alongside each other, with Ben Chilwell and Reece James taking up the two wide roles.
Although the Blues have several options to choose from in the middle of the park, there’s no denying that their most important player in this area is French destroyer N’Golo Kante. The World Cup winner is likely to start as the lone holding midfielder, with Mason Mount and Kai Havertz operating in the two number eight slots in front of him. While Mount is likely to be tasked with leading the Chelsea press, Havertz will be responsible for bringing the attackers into the game.
The Blues’ attack line has been one of the deadliest in the league so far this season, and Lampard will be hoping that they come good once again this weekend. Despite Christian Pulisic’s potential return to fitness, it’s unlikely that the managed will bring him back into the starting eleven so quickly. Instead, they could stick with the same front-three that has done the job over recent weeks. Tammy Abraham is expected to start in the central striking role, with Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner operating on either flank.
