Picking Out Chelsea’s Strongest Eleven For When They Return To Action

Must Read
Nikhil Vinodh
Nikhil has been an avid Chelsea fan for as long as the concept of time has existed and rumours say that he even bleeds blue. Having lived in the UK for 3 years, Nikhil is said to have an excellent understanding of the atmosphere surrounding the English game. His role model is the greatest manager of all time - Jose Mourinho.

Premier League giants Chelsea didn’t have the greatest of starts to the league season, but looking at it now, it does seem like they’re among the strongest teams in the competition at the moment. In terms of form, none of the other teams in the division can surpass what Chelsea have achieved, as they’ve conceded just one goal in their last four fixtures, winning all of them along the way. Be it in the league or in Europe, Lampard’s men have gradually begun to assert their dominance, and that’s a trend that’s expected to continue.

Chelsea currently sit in the top half of the league table, and unlike teams such as Manchester United and Arsenal, they are seemingly in good nick at the moment. The likes of Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham have been firing on all cylinders over recent weeks, with the defensive line holding their own as well. Thiago Silva’s inclusion in the side has come as a massive boon, with Ben Chilwell and Reece James performing up to the mark too. One of the only concerns that will be running through Lampard’s mind at the moment will be regarding team selection, as choosing just eleven players from the Blues’ stacked roster will definitely be a challenge.

Here Is The Strongest XI Chelsea Can Use Upon Returning To League Action:

Formation: 4-1-2-3

Edouard Mendy

The Senegalese stopper has been a sensation since coming into the team, and his exploits in between the sticks have been nothing short of exemplary. As long as he keeps up the good work in goal, Kepa Arrizabalaga is unlikely to even get a look in.

Reece James

The Englishman’s attacking work-rate has been crucial to some of the good results that Chelsea have produced over recent weeks. This also means that he has effectively replaced Cesar Azpilicueta as the first-choice name in the right-back role.

Kurt Zouma

The Frenchman’s resurgence as a central defender has come at the perfect time for Chelsea, as finding a partner for someone as experienced as Thiago Silva was never going to be an easy task. He has grabbed onto the opportunity with open arms.

Thiago Silva

The Brazilian’s signing brought forward various questions from rival fans, and its safe to say that he has answered all of them quite satisfactorily. Despite being on the wrong side of his thirties, the veteran has been dominant in the heart of defence for Chelsea.

Ben Chilwell

The former Leicester City man is another player who faced the wrath of the fans when he was brought in. If his Chelsea career so far is anything to go by however, then Frank Lampard secured what was arguably one of the biggest bargains of the summer.

N’Golo Kante

The Frenchman’s importance to this Chelsea side is widely accepted, and despite his injury struggles over the course of last season, Kante has looked like his former self this time. The World Cup winner tops the charts for interceptions in the league, as is expected.

Mason Mount

For all the stick that young Mason Mount has received from within the Chelsea fan base, it must be conceded that he has shown good fight and desire to mould himself into Lampard’s system. The Englishman is essentially the initiator of the Blues’ press.

Kai Havertz

The German midfielder didn’t have the greatest of starts to life as a Chelsea player, but over the last couple of weeks, he has begun to shine. Capable of tearing teams apart with his passing and movement, the former Leverkusen man is only going to get better.

Hakim Ziyech

If there is one thing that can be said with absolute certainty about Ziyech, it’s that he was part of the biggest bargain deal of the summer. Acquired from Ajax, the Moroccan has begun to show his true class, and is sure to become an important player.

Timo Werner

The German speedster, like his national teammate Havertz, did take some time to settle into the pace of the English game. However, with eight goals in 12 matches across all competitions, he’s sure to become pivotal in the long run.

Christian Pulisic

Although the speedy winger is yet to spring to life for Chelsea this season, his exploits from the last campaign alone are enough to earn him a place in the team. Once back to full fitness, the American is almost certainly going to become a key member of the eleven.
