In a recent report, The Daily Mirror has stated that Manchester City starlet Phil Foden is set to triple his wages with a bumper new contract. It is understood that the English youngster will pen a new deal worth around £75,000-a-week to extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium early next year (via The Daily Mirror).

Foden’s Impressive Form In English Football This Season

Foden has gradually established himself as a valuable squad player under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola and seems to be getting better with each match. The Stockport-born playmaker has made a bright start to this campaign after scoring three goals and providing two assists in ten appearances for Man City across all fronts.

The 20-year-old has caught the eye with his energetic performances over the past few months based on his average of 1.8 shots, 0.5 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season. He has even been accurate when distributing possession in the opposition half as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 86.1% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

Foden has all the makings of becoming a generational talent, so it is no surprise that Man City are willing to move quickly towards tying him down to a new long-term contract and rewarding him with a pay-rise for all the good work he has done in the process.

What Does The English Prospect Bring To The Table?

Foden has decent pace in his locker and can use his agility to make some driving runs towards the opponent’s penalty box. He showcases terrific balance and close control when running with the ball, which makes him a difficult man to dispossess.

The one-time England international can even retain possession well for his side and has added some goals and assists to his game as well. He is a player on the rise and could potentially become one of the greatest players in Man City’s history if he can show steady growth with each season.

Foden Set To Pen A Lucrative New Contract: Good Move For Both Parties?

If the Mancunian giants can tie Foden down to a fresh deal, then it will benefit both the player and the club in the long-run. The English midfield ace is enjoying playing football under the watchful eyes of Guardiola and has shown a lot of improvement with his performances this season.

With Kevin De Bruyne turning 30 next year, Guardiola would need someone like Foden to step up and become the new leader who can carry the club to more glory in the years to come. He has all the skillset to become a household name in European football, so committing his long-term future to Man City could help him solely focus on improving his game and reach for the stars at the Etihad.
