In a recent interview with Football Insider, former Premier League striker Darren Bent has urged Everton to consider recruiting Real Madrid playmaker Isco as he reckons that Carlo Ancelotti could be the ideal man to convince the Spanish attacker to make such a move in the future. Bent said, “If they (Everton) can get him, wow, what a signing that would be from Ancelloti.

“This is the thing, when you have a manager like Ancelotti, who is a top, top manager, by the way, you’re going to be able to attract these players.

“It’s a little bit of a difficult conversation having it with a manager who does not have the same kind of reputation.

“Someone like Ancelotti who has won the Champions League as a player, and as a manager already, has won the Premier League, has won big trophies, when you talk to a manager like that you think ‘Ok, I’m going to take this conversation a little bit more seriously’.”

Isco’s Lacklustre Start To This La Liga Campaign

Isco has endured a frustrating start to this campaign as he has gone goalless despite featuring in six league matches for Los Blancos so far. To be fair to the player, half of his appearances have come as a substitute which explains why he is only averaging 0.7 shots, 0.3 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga this season. However, the 28-year-old deserves a little bit of credit for being tidy with his ball-distribution as he has completed 86.7% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).

The Spaniard’s current contract with the Madrid giants is set to run out in the summer of 2022, so Zinedine Zidane is under no urgent pressure to sell him as he can afford to wait until the end of this campaign before deciding whether to cash in on him or tie him down to a new deal.

What Will The Spanish International Add To Ancelotti’s Team?

Isco is not the quickest of players, but he can still be an unstoppable force when he is dribbling with the ball in the opposition half. The 38-time Spanish international has got excellent close control, balance and composure to get out of tight spaces and wreak havoc in the final third.

However, in recent seasons, Isco has struggled to score or create goals consistently at the highest level. Therefore, he might be tempted to switch clubs next summer if he fails to find some form under Zidane’s tutelage during this campaign.

Will Isco Be A Dream Signing For The Toffees?

At the moment, Ancelotti’s squad is brimming with some top attacking talents as the front three of Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Rodriguez have all impressed with their offensive contributions at Goodison Park this season. However, a player of Isco’s skillset could be a dream option for the Toffees as he will undoubtedly add more quality to Ancelotti’s first-team.

The Everton boss is a decent man-manager and has got enough experience to get the best out of an underperforming talent like Isco. Hence, the Italian manager should listen to Bent’s advice by launching a move for the Spanish attacker in the future.
