Nikhil has been an avid Chelsea fan for as long as the concept of time has existed and rumours say that he even bleeds blue. Having lived in the UK for 3 years, Nikhil is said to have an excellent understanding of the atmosphere surrounding the English game. His role model is the greatest manager of all time - Jose Mourinho.

Premier League giants Chelsea got back to winning ways in the league tonight after a comfortable 3-0 victory over a winless Burnley. The Blues were the dominant force in the game right from the off, and their performance was the perfect symbolism of that dominance. Hakim Ziyech opened his Premier League account with a first-half strike, before a walloping Kurt Zouma header made it two. Timo Werner scored the London club’s third of the night in excellent fashion, to see out what could be an important victory. More than the attacking play, it is the defensive assuredness that Frank Lampard will be most pleased about, as Edouard Mendy kept his fourth consecutive clean sheet across all competitions.

Chelsea Players Ratings Vs Burnley

Edouard Mendy – 7

The Senegalese stopper’s run of clean sheets continued as he wasn’t required to make a single save over the course of the ninety. Offers a rather assured presence behind the defensive line as well.

Reece James – 8

The youngster put in an excellent shift down the right flank as his crossing was right up there once again. Defended well when required to, and didn’t make any unnecessary lunging challenges.

Kurt Zouma – 8

The big Frenchman was unfazed by the Burnley attackers as he performed his defensive duties extremely satisfactorily. Got in on the act in attack as well, by scoring an explosive header.

Thiago Silva – 8

The veteran centre-half was nothing short of sublime in the heart of defence tonight as he dominated everything that Burnley threw at Chelsea. Calm and composed as usual on the ball.

Ben Chilwell – 7.5

The speedster played in some delicious crosses over the course of the ninety, and defended supremely well when he was required to. Supported the attack and linked up with Werner effectively.

N’Golo Kante – 8

The Frenchman was deployed as the lone holding midfielder tonight and it must be conceded that he flourished with Mount and Havertz on either side. Made multiple key tackles and interceptions.

Kai Havertz – 7

The German didn’t have the best of appearances in terms of end product, but his passing and movement were sublime in flashes. Did look careless with his touch on a few occasions though.

Mason Mount – 7.5

The Englishman was the initiator of every single Chelsea press, as his determination and energy levels were right up there. Worked hard off the ball and played a peach of a cross to pick out Zouma.

Hakim Ziyech – 9

The Moroccan made his first ever Premier League start for Chelsea today, and celebrated with his second goal for the club. Crafty with his passing and picked up an assist before going off as well.

Tammy Abraham – 7

The Englishman, despite not having too many chances to find the net himself, picked up some excellent positions in attack. Acted as the perfect fulcrum for all of the Blues’ attacking play.

Timo Werner – 7.5

The German speedster was a late inclusion to the side after Christian Pulisic pulled up during the warm-ups. Showed a blistering change of pace and scored the Blues’ third in great style.

Substitutes

Callum Hudson-Odoi – NA

Didn’t have time to make an impact.

Olivier Giroud – NA

Put the ball in the net, only to be called offside. Didn’t have time to make too much of an impact otherwise.

Jorginho – NA

Didn’t have time to make an impact.
