Tottenham Hotspur have had a mixed start to the 2020/21 Premier League campaign under Jose Mourinho. They have failed to win in any of their two home games, but strong performances against Southampton and Manchester United away from home have served as a ray of hope for the fans.

Here, at The 4th Official, we will talk about three best performers for Tottenham so far this season, though in no particular order.

Eric Dier

Eric Dier has had his fair share of critics over the years. But this season, he has done a great job of silencing them, mainly thanks to some promising defensive performances under Mourinho so far.

As a matter of fact, the Englishman has emerged as arguably the best defender for Tottenham, recently building a formidable defensive combination with Davinson Sanchez that has kept the highly-experienced Toby Alderweireld on the bench.

Dier’s performances against Manchester United and Chelsea, in the EFL Cup, were indeed excellent. His imposing figure, combined with an eye for that forward pass has served Tottenham well so far, and Mourinho will be hoping that it continues throughout the rest of the campaign.

Harry Kane

An obvious inclusion on this list, Harry Kane has been a star for Tottenham over the years and this season has been no exception. Unlike previously, however, there has been a slightly noticeable change in Kane’s game, with the striker now unleashing the creative side of his game. It was particularly evident in his performance against Southampton when he assisted all four of Son Heung-Min’s goals. He also scored two and assisted one in the win over United and has been involved in a total of 15 goals in just 8 eight matches, seven of which have been assists.

Kane, however, will be delighted with the arrival of Carlos Vinicius from FC Porto as it will give him some respite following a hectic run of fixtures.

Son Heung-Min

Another obvious pick, Son Heung-Min has been the best player not only for Tottenham, but perhaps in England this season, having scored seven goals and providing three assists in just six competitive matches.

The South Korean international provided one of the best performances in the Premier League in recent years with his four goals against Southampton earlier this season. Although he was unfortunate to pick up an injury, it was followed by another excellent display in the recent win over Manchester United.

Son’s pace and dynamism down the left flank have served as an ideal catalyst for Mourinho’s counter-attacking system at Tottenham this season, and his seemingly telepathic combination with Kane make them one of the deadlier teams in the division.
