Premiership giants Rangers got back to winning ways in the league after a comfortable 5-1 victory against Motherwell in the early kick-off. The Ibrox club started the tie in the ascendancy and was soon awarded a penalty because of a handball decision. James Tavernier scored to break the deadlock, and the floodgates seemed to open from that point. Jordan Jones scored a peach of a goal before another handball gave Tavernier his second penalty of the tie. Cédric Itten scored twice in the late stages before an unfortunate George Edmundson own goal gave Motherwell their consolation as well.
