Nikhil has been an avid Chelsea fan for as long as the concept of time has existed and rumours say that he even bleeds blue. Having lived in the UK for 3 years, Nikhil is said to have an excellent understanding of the atmosphere surrounding the English game. His role model is the greatest manager of all time - Jose Mourinho.

Premier League giants Chelsea dropped further points tonight after a thrilling 3-3 draw against newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion. The Blues were probably viewing this as a comfortable victory prior to the game, but Slaven Bilic’s side seemed to come out all guns blazing. Some poor defending led to Chelsea going three goals down, with the likes of Marcos Alonso, Thiago Silva and Reece James all looking suspect on occasion.

Lampard’s decision to change things around at half-time worked a wonder as he was able to add a bit more panache and direction to the Chelsea attack. The introduction of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Cesar Azpilicueta at half-time was a turning point, as it offered the Blues a different dimension while getting forward. Mason Mount got one back with a rifled strike from outside the box before Hudson-Odoi linked up with Kai Havertz to find a second. It took a late tap-in from Tammy Abraham to tie things up for Chelsea, and Lampard would surely have been happy with the point at the end of the night.

Chelsea Player Ratings Vs West Bromwich Albion

Willy Caballero – 6

The Argentine veteran was rather helpless with the first and third West Brom goals but arguably should’ve got a touch on the second one. Can’t really be blamed for it though and looked composed on the ball.

Reece James – 6

The speedster was guilty of letting Robinson pass for the Chelsea opener before he was caught ball-watching ahead of the third. Got forward well but wasn’t able to produce any quality.

Andreas Christensen – 7

The Dane was excellent in the heart of defence after going three goals down. Couldn’t have directly done too much about any of the West Brom goals but kept his composure all through the night.

Thiago Silva – 6.5

The Brazilian’s dominance in the air was showcased on a couple of occasions, but it was his mistake that led to the Baggies’ second goal. Clearly needs more time out on the training pitch.

Marcos Alonso – 3

The Spaniard looked extremely shaky right from the off, and the third Albion goal was entirely his fault. Seemed to simply watch the ball as he let his man run off behind him. Poor in attack as well.

Mateo Kovacic – 6

The Croatian was caught in possession on a couple of occasions and was unfortunately sacrificed by Lampard at half-time. Didn’t have enough of the ball to make anything happen.

N’Golo Kante – 6

The Frenchman was far from his usual best tonight as the pace of the Albion attackers was too much for him to deal with. Wasn’t able to create too much in attack either.

Kai Havertz – 7

The midfielder was one of the livelier players on the pitch for Chelsea and linked up the play in a pretty efficient manner. Took an excellent touch to create an opening for Hudson-Odoi.

Mason Mount – 8

The youngster looked the likeliest to produce something in the final third all through the ninety. Although he was fortunate that the keeper didn’t move, nothing can be taken away from his shot.

Timo Werner – 6

The German was unable to impact the tie in the manner that he would’ve liked, despite showing a couple of good touches in the box. Wasn’t allowed space to run into behind the Albion defence.

Tammy Abraham – 6.5

The Englishman wasted a glorious chance in the first-half as he flashed his shot well over. Popped up when it mattered though and brought Chelsea back on level terms in second-half stoppage time.

Substitutes

Cesar Azpilicueta – 7

The skipper reclaimed his rightful armband after entering the pitch at the halfway mark. Picked up the assist for Mount’s goal and ensured to keep up the pressure in attack.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – 8

The Englishman singlehandedly carried Chelsea back into the game after coming on in the second half. Made multiple dangerous runs down the flank and scored a peach of a goal as well.

Olivier Giroud – 6

The Frenchman had a couple of good touches in and around the penalty area but was never really presented with a clean enough chance to have a go at the goal.
